The Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST) launched in 2016 aims at building an ecosystem that drives technological innovation and scientific advancement in Armenia and beyond. FAST intends to mobilize the scientific, technological, and financial resources of the Armenian and international communities.
The world is undergoing yet another revolution spurred by a new wave of disruptive technologies,
such as artificial intelligence, robotics, cloud computing, big data, synthetic biology and new sources of energy.
Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST) is conceived as a comprehensive platform to foster the technological and scientific breakthrough to Armenia by reviving the country’s strong science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) traditions, establishing a favorable regime for innovative environment, promotion of science and technology education, and actively developing a venture capital ecosystem.
One of the pivotal tasks of FAST is to engage tech and scientific communities in raising the profile of Armenia as a technological and scientific hub for discoveries and developments.
The main mission of the foundation is to build an ecosystem that drives technological innovation and scientific advancement in Armenia and beyond. With that in sight, FAST intends to:
CONCENTRATE resources behind select breakthrough innovations, inventions and multi-stakeholder projects
COORDINATE activities of scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs to amplify their work and impact both in Armenia and the world
CATALYZE development of globally competitive science and technology verticals
FAST is co-founded by Ruben Vardanyan and Noubar Afeyan on behalf of the IDeA Foundation; Fr. Mesrop Aramyan on behalf of the “Ayb” and “Luys” foundations, and high tech and innovations entrepreneur Artur Alaverdyan.
Armen Orujyan, PhD, architect of innovative ecosystems and entrepreneur, is the Chief Executive Officer of FAST. Dr. Orujyan is the Founder and Chairman of “Athgo” Corporation, one of the world’s leading entrepreneurship platforms in consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, UN Department of Public Information, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
“FAST, propelled by its Founders’ vision, historical scientific accomplishments of Armenia and Armenians around the world, and access to global resources, can thrust Armenia into becoming one of the leading scientific and open innovation hubs. I envision a world where Armenia is a trendsetter of disruptive and cutting edge innovation in the region and beyond,” Armen Orujyan stated.
