This is a new format of cooperation for the IDeA Foundation: between the state, the EU delegation and partners
The Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development of the Republic of Armenia and the Delegation of the European Union have signed the agreement defining the Initiative for the Development of Dilijan and Adjacent Communities grant program.
The General Director of the IDeA Foundation Edgar Manukyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development of RA David Lokyan and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski signed the agreement on December 13.
This is a new format of cooperation for the IDeA Foundation: between the state, the EU delegation and partners. This model of cooperation will be institutionalized in the future.
The objective of the program presented by the IDeA Foundation is to support the development of tourism in Dilijan and adjacent communities, thus boosting creation of new jobs and business opportunities. The implementation of this program will contribute to the economic development of Tavush region in general, and Dilijan town in particular, inter alia resulting in reduction of migration trends.
The total budget of the program is approximately 1,195,000 euros, from which 780,000 is the grant funding provided by the EU; 195,000 is the co-funding by the state; and 140,000 is the co-funding of the IDeA Foundation.
Within the program framework, the Foundation also cooperates with the municipality of Dilijan, the Dilijan National park and DIS Properties Foundation. As a result, these three institutions will jointly allocate 80,000 euros for the implementation of the project.
The program duration is two years. It will launch in February, 2017.
“Dilijan and the adjacent communities have the potential to become one of the most flourishing regions of Armenia. The goals of our projects also include turning Dilijan into a prosperous cultural, educational and tourist center. We believe that the implementation of this program will have a significant impact on the development of Dilijan and the adjacent communities”, - said the General Director of the IDeA Foundation Edgar Manukyan.
Within the program framework, the IDeA (Initiatives for Development of Armenia) Foundation will conduct a comprehensive market research in tourism, hospitality, arts and crafts, establish an information center for tourists, develop new tourist trails, open an arts and crafts center in Dilijan, organize seminars, workshops and master classes for skill development of those who work in the hospitality industry, and provide grants for the creation of new jobs.
The Initiative for the Development of Dilijan and the Adjacent Communities is one of the seven grant programs implemented in the frame of Regional Development Pilot Program funded by the European Union and the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
