On July 16, Wings of Tatev aerial tramway served 1,371 passengers.
On July 16, Wings of Tatev aerial tramway set a record by serving 1,371 passengers in just one day.
The previous record was seen on July 20, 2014 – back then the aerial tramway received 1,321 passengers in just one day.
Wings of Tatev reversible aerial tramway was installed in 2010 by the Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation within the framework of Tatev Revival Project.
It’s the longest reversible cableway in the world. Not only the length (5,752 m) of the cableway is record-setting, but also the period within which it was installed – just 10 months. The aerial tramway was installed by the Austrian-Swiss Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group, the world's leading manufacturer of cable cars.
In the first year of its opening in 2010, Wings of Tatev aerial tramway received roughly 10,000 visitors, while as of late 2016, the number of the aerial tramway’s passengers surpassed 505,000.
Thanks to Tatev Revival Project, Tatev region is swiftly morphing into a global tourist destination that welcomes tourists from Russia, Europe and the US. The Tatev Gateway, Larger Tatev, Tatev Monastery restoration projects, and the Tatev National Park embody a holistic approach to the development of the region.
